82915 PICZ-9441.jpgMarcus Aurelius Rosario aka Mawkus is a DJ and radio host who thrives on all things mawkward. Originally from Southern California but currently living in Brooklyn, he’s played countless events in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Tijuana and San Diego.

Mawkus has shared the stage with a plethora of world-class talent: Nguzunguzu and Kingdom of Fade To Mind, DJ Vadim, Krystal Klear, Nocando, Open Mike Eagle, Busdriver, A Tribe Called Red, FaltyDL, Captain Planet, Jeremy Sole, DJ Eleven, B+ of Mochilla, XL Middleton, Questlove as well as the crews of Soulection, Body High and Subsuelo among others.

You may have heard his DJ mixes or productions on XLR8R, KCRW, KPFK, KEXP, Rinse FM, East Village Radio and KCPR in addition to countless music blogs.

He’s a part of the Singapore-based label collective Darker Than Wax, co-hosting two radio shows – a weekly radio show, Darker Than Wax FM, on Brooklyn’s The Lot Radio and a monthly radio show, We Move, on London’s Radar RadioBoth shows have featured many notable guests like that of Lefto, Scratcha DVA, Sosupersam, Flamingosis, Byron The Aquarius, Obey City, Photay, Yaeji and more.

He currently works for NY-based non-profit Building Beats teaching underserved youth entrepreneurial and life skills through music production and DJ’ing.

He’s also currently A&R Director for FSQ, signed to Soul Clap Records.

He worked for one of the most illustrious public radio stations in the country, KSDS-FM San Diego’s Jazz 88.3, hosting two weekly radio shows showcasing world music, jazz, blues, soul and rare groove.

Mawkus loves slow jams, grilled chicken caesar salads, wine and the paranormal.
