Marcus Aurelius Rosario aka Mawkus is a DJ, radio host, producer and music educator who thrives on all things mawkward. Hailing from Southern California but currently splitting his time between Brooklyn and San Francisco, he’s played countless events including but not limited to The Rub with DJ Ayres and DJ Eleven, 143 with Siik and Sosupersam and Fade To Mind with Kingdom and Nguzungzuzu. He worked for one of the most illustrious public radio stations in the country, KSDS-FM San Diego’s Jazz 88.3, hosting two weekly radio shows showcasing world music, jazz, blues, soul and rare groove.

Co-leading the New York arm of Singapore-based label collective Darker Than Wax, Mawkus co-hosts and produces the weekly radio show, Darker Than Wax FM, on Brooklyn’s The Lot Radio. From 2017-2020, he co-hosted and produced a monthly radio show, We Move, at Red Bull Arts New York.

Having shared the stage with a plethora of world-class musical talent through the years, he currently is a part of NY-based Building Beats teaching underserved youth entrepreneurial and life skills through music production and DJ’ing.

You can currently find Mawkus playing around the San Francisco Bay Area as well as NYC throughout the year.
